Final hearing on Doyle Drive injunction lawsuit scheduled

The final hearing date has been set concerning a lawsuit against the funding plan to rebuild Doyle Drive.

Earlier this month, an Alameda County Superior Court judge elected to drop a temporary restraining order against the second phase of the Doyle Drive rebuild, a project aimed at upgrading the aging, seismically unstable approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The injunction was in place as the result of a lawsuit filed by a group representing public engineers, who were upset that a private consortium of financiers and contractors were awarded the contract for the project.

In his decision on Jan. 3, Judge Wynne Carvill said he was unlikely to reinstate the injunction, but he gave the public engineers group a few weeks to strengthen its argument.

A final hearing on the issue is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the Alameda County Superior Court.
