Fillmore check-cashing business robbed at gunpoint

A check-cashing business was robbed at gunpoint in the Fillmore district Friday, police said.

The armed suspect, described as a man aged 40 to 50, knocked on the door of the business in the 1400 block of Fillmore Street about 2:49 p.m. and was let in by one of the two women working at the time, police said.

He approached the counter and pointed a handgun at the women, then hopped over the register and took money out of it, police said. The man proceeded to order the women to open the safe before fleeing with cash. He remains at large.
