Fight breaks out near ballpark after Giants win NLCS, gunshot fired

Rowdy baseball fans were at it again last night after the Giants won Game 5 of the National League Championship Series, sending the team to its third World Series in the past five years.

And what better way to celebrate a win than with a fight outside the ballpark?

One person was injured in a fight near Third and Channel streets and a gunshot was fired, although police believe no one was struck by the gunfire, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The fight broke out about 10 p.m. among a group of individuals, Shyy said, and after the gunshot went off, most of the group fled the area.

One victim remained in the area and that victim sustained a fractured nose and was taken to the hospital for the injury, which was not life threatening.

Anyone with further information on this incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text at TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
