Fee increase proposed for assessment appeals

When property owners question the assessment of their property, they often have to file an appeal with the Assessment Appeals Board. The so-called processing fee costs $30.

On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee will vote to increase it to $45. This fee hasn’t been increased since fiscal year 1994-1995.

The committee meets at 11 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall room 250 to vote on the fee change. The filing fee has generated an average of $78,250 annually, according to Budget Analyst Harvey Rose.
