Evidence being considered in murder retrial

Trial motions are scheduled to be presented in San Mateo County Superior Court today for the retrial of a man convicted more than two years ago of fatally stabbing his wife in Daly City.

Quincy Dean Norton Sr., 36, is accused of murdering his 31-year-old wife, Tamika Norton, at their home on Mira Vista Court on July 22, 2006.

Norton’s first trial ended with his conviction May 15, 2008, when a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder. The conviction was later overturned when the judge found that the defendant’s attorney had provided inadequate representation.

Today, Judge Craig Parsons will begin to consider 32 motions to admit or exclude evidence.
