Eviction law gains unanimous support

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved legislation Tuesday prohibiting landlords from executing owner move-in evictions during the school year of tenants who have children under the age of 18 living with them.

It was the board’s second and final vote on the bill.

The legislation, which was introduced by Supervisor Eric Mar, is one of a series of proposals that have come before the board recently impacting tenants and landlords.

“I am very proud of this legislation and I want to thank all of the dedicated service providers that worked so hard to get us to where we are today on this legislation,” Mar said in a statement.  “The passage of this family protection ordinance offers a modest step forward towards protecting families with children during these tough economic times.”
