Evening reading: Financial foxes guarding the henhouse, Goldman inanity, Government Motors, and more

Here are some good stories I wanted to blog on today, but never got a chance:

  • Marta Mossburg writes in the Baltimore Sun that the same folks who caused the financial mess — Fannie and Goldman people — are now in charge of overseeing the bailout money.
  • General Motors and President Obama are pretending that GM has paid back the taxpayers. Shikha Dalmia at Reason explains this is bogus: the company is still owned by the government, and still sits on bailout loans.
  • As if there weren’t enough Goldman connections in this administration, we learn today from Matt Kelly at USA Today that Solicitor General Elena Kagan — supposedly a top contender for the Supreme Court — sat on a Goldman Sachs board.
