Equipment problems create delays on Muni Metro this morning

Commuters on Muni’s Metro trains experienced delays Wednesday morning due to an equipment malfunction.

All trains except for the N-Judah and J-Church were running on manual mode in the underground system — making things slower than usual, agency spokesman Paul Rose said. A problem with a sander hose near Church Street Station disrupted the system’s automatic signal timing, forcing the trains to run in manual mode.

Maintenance crews fixed the problem at 9:15 a.m. and by 10 a.m., service was returned to normal.
