Employer shuttles on the increase

Employees who live in San Francisco and travel outside The City using employee transportation are growing, according to San Francisco’s Planning and Urban Research Association.

To determine how to incorporate those increasing number of shuttles into The City’s overall transportation plan, SPUR is holding a luncheon to discuss the topic Tuesday.

Margaret Cortes of the San Francisco Planning Department and Tilly Chang of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority will be on hand to discuss a report that examines shuttle services in terms of their costs and benefits, coexistence with other transportation services and their impacts and benefits on the local neighborhoods they serve.

Major Silicon Valley companies including Google Inc., Apple Inc., Yahoo Inc. and Genentech Inc. in South San Francisco offer their employees shuttles to and from campuses.
