Out Magazine has handed its crown to talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, who sits atop its Power 50 List documenting the most powerful lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in America.

“Everybody loves Ellen, and that’s one of the reasons she’s regained the top spot,” the magazine editors said upon releasing the eighth annual list Tuesday. They explained: “In March, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ shattered its own 10-year ratings record in the episode that immediately followed her Academy Awards hosting gig, which also gave the awards its best ratings since 2004. And her star-studded Oscars selfie almost shut down Twitter when the pic became the most retweeted ever.”

Also on the list: MSNBC star Rachel Maddow (No. 3); actor Neil Patrick Harris (No. 7); prospective NFL player Michael Sam (No. 9); “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts (No. 10), who is the first woman of color to crack the top 10; fashion designer Michael Kors (No. 12); Oscar-nominated actress Ellen Page (No. 29), who came out on Valentine’s Day; and Grammy-winning singer Frank Ocean (No. 42), who came out as bisexual on his blog last year.
