Ed Lee raises $748K in bid to keep his post as San Francisco mayor

Mayor Ed Lee has raised $748,008 in contributions of up to $500 per person in his bid to be elected mayor, according to the campaign finance form he filed with the Ethics Commission. The form declares how much money was raised as of Sept. 24.

Lee started raising money in August, and has already surpassed other candidates who were raising money well before him. Mayoral candidate and former District 8 supervisor Bevan Dufty, for example, began raising money in 2009 and as of Sept. 24 he has raised a total of $616,800.

Board of Supervisor President David Chiu, who filed to run for mayor in February, has raised a total of $546,455, according to campaign finance forms filed with the Ethics Commission Thursday.
