Dump the Pump day tomorrow — commuters urged to leave cars, take public transit 

Commuters are being urged to ditch their cars tomorrow and hop on public transit for the 6th Annual “Dump the Pump” day.

Organized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), “Dump the Pump” day is held to highlight the importance of traveling on public transit. According to APTA statistics, public transportation saved 785 million hours in travel time and 640 million gallons of fuel in 439 urban areas.

Local transportation agencies such as Muni, BART, SamTrans and Caltrain have already sent out releases highlighting tomorrow’s event.
