Drunken Norteño challenges sheriff’s deputy to fight

Ah, youth. An allegedly intoxicated 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday in Half Moon Bay after authorities said he challenged a sheriff’s deputy to fisticuffs and declared his allegiance to the local Norteño gang.

Deputies were called to 40 Stone Pine Road at 11:45 p.m. after reports of several people standing outside, yelling and making noise, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

About 20 people left the area as deputies arrived, but Luis Aguilar — who “appeared intoxicated ... had red, watery eyes, was unsteady on his feet,” slurred his speech and smelled like alcohol, according to the Sheriff’s Office — refused to budge and threw down the proverbial gauntlet.

“I don’t give a ---- who you is, I’m a Norteño from Media Luna,” Aguilar was quoted as saying.

Aguilar, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested for public intoxication “due to his high level of intoxication and his inability to follow simple directions,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
