Drop in for a little ‘Sex and the City’

If you have seen the show “Sex in the City,” this is obviously going to be a must watch. That is, if you didn’t rush out to the theater to see this follow-up to the HBO sitcom that follows the exploits of four friends, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, in New York City. The film picks up five years after the series ended, with new twists, new loves and new jobs.  A whole second disc dedicated to extras accompanies the main feature so you can find out all about how they made the film along with other features. Price: $34.98, standard def.; $35.99, Blu-ray. Rent or buy: Buy, if a fan.

Pathology

“Pathology” is a lot like Fox’s series “House.” Well, that is if Dr. House went homicidal and began figuring out ways to kill his patients rather than save them. See, that’s what these privileged doctors do after they get bored dissecting corpses.  Anyway, for a thriller it isn’t awful, just don’t expect to be blown away by a believable plotline. Price: $27.98 Rent or buy: Rent.

Friday the 13th — The Series — The First Season

Just so you know, this series didn’t have anything to do with the movies featuring Jason Voorhees in his hockey mask. Two siblings inherit their uncle’s antique shop and sell off all the merchandise. But they don’t realize that their uncle made a deal with the devil and all of the items are cursed. Now, they have to track down all of the items and keep them locked up. Good stuff, albeit a bit cheesy. Price: $54.99 Rent or buy: Buy.

Other DVDs debuting this week: “Boston Legal — Season Four,” “CSI: NY — The Fourth Season,” “This American Life,” “Blood +: Volume Three,” “Gangland — The Complete Season One” and “Samantha Who — The Complete First Season.”
