Driver killed in fiery Pacifica crash

A motorist was killed in a fiery crash in Pacifica this morning, police said.

The crash was reported at about 3:55 a.m. on Skyline Boulevard, also known as state Highway 35, near King Drive. Authorities arrived to find a vehicle south of the intersection engulfed in flames, according to police.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and found the driver, the sole occupant of the car, dead inside, police said.

The driver had apparently been traveling north there when the car swerved across the double yellow lines, down an embankment and into a utility pole, police Capt. Daniel Steidle said. The sedan then burst into flames.

The driver was killed in the fire. Investigators have not been able to determine the identity of the driver since the body was badly burned, Steidle said.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to call Pacifica police at (650) 738-7314.
