  • A CHP pursuit and subsequent arrest disrupted traffic on the Bay Bridge on Monday.
The driver of a box truck was taken into custody on U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco on Monday morning after a low-speed pursuit across the Bay Bridge, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP was called at 8:37 a.m. to assist another agency in a pursuit that started in the East Bay and continued across the bridge “at very low speeds,” CHP Officer Ron Simmons said. The truck had at least one tire blown out.

CHP Officer Mike Ferguson told KGO (Ch. 7) that the truck’s owner reported seeing a former employee in possession of the vehicle.

The driver was eventually stopped and arrested on southbound Highway 101 near Cesar Chavez Street, Simmons said. Footage from KGO showed the suspect running across lanes of traffic, and then being tackled by a CHP officer.

Lanes were closed near the scene immediately following the arrest of the suspect, Simmons said.
