Drifter faces hate allegations, felony charges

A San Francisco drifter is facing a worse fate than popular radio-show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger for allegedly spouting the N-word so liberally.

Christopher Brymer, 50, allegedly assaulted a black man on a Muni platform last month — reportedly while shouting the taboo word that prompted Dr. Laura this week to announce she will resign from her long-running talk show — and was set to be arraigned Thursday on a host of charges including hate allegations.

Brymer is accused of socking Shaun Parker over the head with an unknown object on a Bayview transit platform last month. Moments before the attack, he allegedly threatened another black man inside a nearby soup kitchen, prosecutors said.

A judge agreed hate allegations should be tacked on to the multiple felony charges Brymer is facing, prosecutors said.

Brymer remains in custody on $200,000 bail.

Meanwhile, Schlessinger, 63, announced Tuesday she will not renew her contract for her popular radio show, where she offers advice to guests on relationships and the like, after she used the N-word liberally during a discussion with a caller about whether it is wrong to say the word.

You hear it on TV and black people say it all the time, she said.

She’s quitting so she can “regain my First Amendment rights.”
