Downed website - end of Newsom effort

It may not come as a shock that the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, which was once staffed by former U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan, a police lieutenant and a stable of grant writers, no longer really exists.

Mayor Gavin Newsom has coyly avoided questions about whether the office really exists anymore, but one sign more than any other that may be the final word that it’s gone – the website for the famously tech savvy mayor is down. Go ahead, try to access it on his website.

Newsom still staffs a public safety adviser, however. Nicholas King, a former aide for Supervisor Bevan Dufty, said he is currently working on the website and that it should be up soon.

We hope that someone also updates the mayor’s public safety blog, which was once unveiled with such fanfare but hasn’t been updated since October 2009.
