Dog eats dog, owner flees

A woman fled after her one of her two dogs brutally killed another dog in Bernal Heights on Tuesday.

The killer dog, described only as “a big white dog,” was on a leash when the slain smaller pooch came to greet it in the 300 block of Bradford Street around 1:45 p.m., police said.

The slain pooch had jumped from its owner’s arms, apparently curious about the other dogs. The white dog thrashed the smaller dog, and the owners of the victim pooch, a married couple, struggled to free their best friend.

Eventually the big dog let go, but it was too late, police said.

The woman walking the killer dog left and told the victims she would return, but she never returned, police said.

An ambulance was called for the slain dog’s owner, who “wasn’t feeling well,” police said.

There were witnesses that came forward and gave their account of the incident to the officers. There have been no arrests. Cops are investigating.
