Disc golf in McLaren Park is making headway

A 13-year-old argument about whether there should be a disc golf course in McLaren Park will resurface this month.

However, it’s not just an idea, and the Recreation and Park Department has already agreed to move plans forward with the San Francisco Disc Golf Club.

The club has a layout of the course that could bring hundreds of fans to the second-largest park in The City.

But the Friends of McLaren Park have shot the idea down in the past because they think it could draw too many people to the open space that’s about one-third the size of Golden Gate Park — where the club set up its first disc golf course.

Now the Disc Golf Club is ready show everyone the proposed layout in McLaren Park, so bring hiking shoes.

The first community meeting is Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater and the second one is April 20 at the Crocker Amazon Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m.
