Digital Breakdown: Spinning an enjoyable ‘Web’

The half computer-generated, half live-action blockbuster "Charlotte’s Web" features some of the best film casting recently. How can you go wrong with Dakota Fanning, Robert Redford, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, John Cleese and even Andre "3000" Benjamin — who ends up stealing the show?

Based on the children’s classic by E.B. White, the film is kid-friendly and enjoyable for adults, too. The DVD includes deleted scenes, seven featurettes, a gag reel, a demo for an upcoming game of the same name and a music video by Sarah McLachlan.

The second season of David Lynch’s iconic "Twin Peaks" finally comes to DVD. Six years after the first season made its DVD debut, adventures in the strangest town on earth and the search for Laura Palmer’s killer continue.

The DVD has all 22 episodes of the 1990-91 season on six discs as well as behind-the-scenes vignettes with the stars, "Log Lady" episodic introductions and a feature on "what it all means" from various "Twin Peaks" insiders.

Just seeing what Ari (Jeremy Piven) will do or say next is worth the price of this DVD. This new DVD of season three of "Entourage" is just the first of two parts, being released by HBO in a fashion similar to that of "The Sopranos." While the show has been really good since its beginning, season three manages to rise above its predecessors.

The DVD includes one featurette and cast and crew audio commentaries on three episodes.

Just in time for baseball season, this version of the classic Robert Redford film includes 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage added to the original cut. It’s also a new movie in that director Barry Levinson recut the first act to give the film a different feel.

This DVD also features a new digitally remastered transfer, 10 featurettes (including new interviews and commentary) and a new introduction from Levinson.

The original "Black Christmas" is considered one of the first slasher films and regarded as one of the scariest. This remake, about a handful of sorority girls who are the victims of psycho sibling stalkers, doesn’t capture the feeling of dread of the original, and it’s not nearly as scary.

If you can ignore the nonsensical flashbacks and pointless subplots, the film is decent.

As far as SciFi Channel movies go, "Attack of the Gryphon" featuring Amber Benson (from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), isn’t bad. An evil wizard unleashes a mythical beast onto two warring medieval factions that must band together to stop it from destroying everything in its wake.

With nothing on the DVD other than the film, this is a rental.
