Digital Breakdown: Get a good ‘Vantage Point’

If you enjoy multitiered plotlines, fancy camerawork and action with a lot of twists, "Vantage Point" should be right up your alley. It’s told from the perspective of a number of people in a town square in Spain, where a U.S. president is targeted for assassination. But the question is: Is the target really the man onstage, or is more complex terrorist activity in the works?

The film’s amazing talent includes Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whitaker and William Hurt. One drawback: it’s easy to guess what will happen, particularly if you’ve seen the trailers, which give too much away. Still, it’s enjoyable. The DVD’s second disc has extras on the making of the film and never-before-released material. Price: $34.95 to $38.96. Rent or buy: Good rental.

DRILLBIT TAYLOR 2-DISC UNRATED EDITION

"Drillbit Taylor" just isn’t that funny. Also, Owen Wilson seems to be playing himself yet again; his title character is a homeless ex-soldier trying to illegally immigrate to Canada who takes a job protecting high school students from bullies. Wilson seems to be looking for Ben Stiller in every other scene to set him up. The unrated film on the DVD does have some scenes originally left on the cutting room floor. There also are11 featurettes including a gag reel and a "line-off" of quirky lines in the film. But the movie just isn’t good enough to deserve all the extras. Price: $34.99 to $39.99. Rent or buy: Rent — if that.

MAD MEN — SEASON ONE

AMC’s brilliant original television series focuses on a group of executives inside a big New York ad agency. Not only is the series awesome, and a throwback to old times, it’s one of the few TV series offered in Blu-ray. "Mad Men" takes place in 1960.

With vintage sets, clothing, lingo and story lines, it’s a can’t-miss series that shows the power of advertising in the days when cigarettes weren’t bad for people’s health. The DVD has 13 episodes and audio commentaries — all in a cool, molded, cigarette-lighter case. Price: $49.99. Rent or buy: Buy.

BATMAN: THE MOVIE BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION

No, this isn’t the "Dark Knight"; it’s the "BANG!" "ZAP!" "BOOM!" version of Batman featuring stars of the 1960s TV show: Adam West as Batman, Burt Ward as Robin and Cesar Romero as the Joker. This set has the remastered movie in stunning high definition along with a tour of the vintage Batmobile, a tribute to the caped crusader and a rogues gallery of villains. It’s great classic stuff for any Batman fan. Price: $39.98. Rent or buy: Buy.

POINT BREAK BLU-RAY

You know you want it — and you want it in high definition, too. Before Keanu Reeves became "The One" and Patrick Swayze faded into pop-culture oblivion, they were the kings of the world in this surfing action-adventure film from the early 1990s. Surfing? Crime? Action? What’s not to like? Price: $39.98. Rent or buy: Buy.

Other DVDs coming out Tuesday: "The Royal Diaries," "My Blueberry Nights," "Triloquist," "Sex and Death 101," "Heathers — 20th Anniversary High School Reunion Edition," "In the Line of Fire Blu-ray," "Only the Valiant" and "Dead and Gone."
