Diamond Heights shooting victim improving

A 21-year-old San Francisco woman who was fighting for her life after being sprayed with bullets while walking on the sidewalk in Diamond Heights on Tuesday afternoon is “doing better than yesterday,” police said.

However, it’s too soon to say if she’s going to pull through, Officer Samson Chan said.

Police are trying to piece together the case that happened on the 5300 block of Diamond Heights Boulevard at 3 p.m.

Initial reports have three people rolling up to the woman in a green four-door Lexus, the driver talking to her, and then a backseat gunman stepping out of the car to shoot her.

Police believe the victim knew at least one of the suspects, and the gunman was described as black and in his 20s, according to reports.

The suspects drove off and no arrests have been made.

The victim suffered two bullet wounds in the torso and two in the legs, Chan said. At least one handgun was used in the shooting, he said.

Further details are scant as police say they don’t want to throw off their active investigation.
