Demonstration planned for BART station that was site of deadly shooting

Demonstrators will converge on the BART Civic Center station on Monday afternoon to the July 3 fatal shooting of Charles Hill as well as the shooting of Oscar Grant at the Fruitvale Station on New Year’s Day in 2009.

The group, organized by ONYX Organizing Committee, will gather at the station at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Hill was shot by BART police officers moments after the officers responded to the the station around 9:45 p.m. The original call was for a a person on the platform who was “wobbly and appeared to be drunk.” BART has said that Hill had a knife and used a bottle for a weapon against the officers.
