Decorative, energy-efficient lights for SoMa alleys 

Decorative light poles equipped with energy-efficient light-emitting diodes will replace 31 old-fashioned cobra-head style poles in South of Market alleys.

The $202,000 project will be among the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency’s early steps in an effort to overhaul the heavily populated alleys that surround the Sixth Street corridor.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission aims to eventually replace all of The City’s streetlights with energy-efficient LED technology. Work on the project could begin this month.
