Daly ‘horrified’ over Lennar security guard flap

When a retired SFPD officer working security for Lennar Corp. went into the belly of the beast — a public meeting attended by a number of anti-Lennar activists at the Nation of Islam Mosque in the Bayview district — he probably should have left the gun at home.

Supervisor Chris Daly said he was “horrified” that an armed, Lennar security guard would enter the “tinder box” that is the Nation of Islam Mosque. Daly is having the city attorney draft legislation that would ban the carrying of guns at places of worship.

“A law might not have been violated, but this is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard, and thank goodness it ended up with him just handcuffed to a pole for an hour,” Daly said.
