Daily Outrage: Web game-addicted Korean couple lets real-life baby starve

WHAT: A South Korean couple addicted to computer games spent up to 12 hours daily at Internet cafes, leaving their 3-month-old daughter home alone. They nurtured an avatar baby on “Second Life” while their real daughter was given just one bottle of milk a day and starved to death.

HOW: The couple called emergency services when they found their daughter dead after returning from an all-night gaming session. They claimed they discovered the body when waking up in the morning. The baby seemed so suspiciously dehydrated that she was autopsied at the national forensics lab, and an arrest warrant for the parents was issued.

WHAT HAPPENED: After months on the run, the couple was captured this week. They told police they felt so guilty over their baby’s death that they “have not been to a PC gaming room” since.
