DA will decide by Jan. 12 on whether to try Orozco again

The District Attorney’s Office will decide by Jan. 12 whether to pursue another trial against Josue Orzco, the youngest person to be tried for murder in San Mateo County.

Jurors deadlocked 7-5 for guilty Monday. Orozco was 14 on July 12, 2005, when he allegedly shot 21-year-old Francisco Rodriguez in a gang dispute. In February 2008, Orozco garnered more headlines when he escaped from the county Youth Services Center.
