CSM hosts annual women’s basketball tournament 

College of San Mateo hosts its annual women’s basketball tournament today through Sunday, showcasing teams from throughout the state.

The Bulldogs (4-3), ranked 15th in Northern California and led by the second leading scorer in the state Erica Hayes (23.8 points per game), open with Allan Hancock (3-8) of Santa Maria (also Bulldogs) in today’s nightcap at 7 p.m.

Tournament favorite, third-ranked Butte College (8-1) of Oroville, is in the same bracket and meets Santa Monica (4-6) at 5 p.m.

Competition gets underway at 1 p.m. with Cabrillo (5-4) of Aptos playing Merritt (3-5) of Oakland, followed by Reedley (5-6) vs. Hartnell (4-6) of Salinas at 3 p.m.

Semifinals are Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m. and the championship game is Sunday at 3 p.m.
