Cross-eyed crook causes Stonestown spectacle after filching frames, punching cop

He apparently couldn’t see the error of his ways.

A San Francisco man allegedly stole prescription eyeglass frames from a Stonestown Galleria Mall store Saturday and then punched an off-duty cop who had detained him.

Police identified 21-year-old Evert Brown as the alleged four-eyed crook.

“He put them on and just basically walked out with them,” San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said Monday.

A clerk called out to Brown to pay for the frames numerous times, but he ignored the plea, Esparza said. An off-duty UC San Francisco police sergeant who was at the mall heard the commotion, chased after Brown and wrestled with him.

The cop identified himself as a police officer numerous times, Esparza said, but Brown allegedly punched him anyway.

“He told him to stop resisting,” Esparza said.

Brown was booked into jail on charges of robbery, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, police said.
