Crooks pilfer diamond-crested bracelets on the sly from San Francisco shop

Slippery thieves shoplifted seven gold diamond-crested bracelets from a Union Square shop on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police were called to the unnamed store in the 300 block of Geary Street at 1:20 p.m.

The crooks got the merchant to open a display case at the store, police said. While one chatted with the merchant, the other stood by the display case. At one point the crook near the display case uttered something in Spanish to his accomplice. Then the two left the store.

The merchant, a 53-year-old Asian woman, noticed the bracelets were gone and yelled at the suspects. They fled on foot, police said. There was no arrest as of Thursday morning.

The crooks were described only as Hispanic men, one in his late 20s and the other late 30s, police said.

Further details about the heist were not immediately known.
