Crooks lose keys to getaway car

Bumbling crooks robbing a 25-year-old woman Sunday morning had to abandon their getaway car after failing to find the keys, police said.

The crooks “picked up” the woman at 17th and Treat streets around 5 a.m., inviting her into their car, police said.

Once in the car, they then robbed her, kicked her out of the vehicle, then tried to drive away. However, they couldn’t find their keys, police said.

The woman began yelling and drawing attention to the thieves, who fled the area on foot and abandoned their car. The woman was not injured, but she lost her purse, police said.

As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made in the case.

The suspects were described as a 23-year-old white man and 27-year-old black man.
