Crook creeping in San Francisco garage says he’s just looking for work

A man found creeping around in a Portola area garage Monday said he was just looking for a job, cops said.

A garbage collector working in the 600 block of Colby Street woke up a woman who lives next door around 7:50 a.m. and told her that a stranger was in her brother’s garage, police said.

The sister and the garbage collector went into the garage to confront the man and asked him what he was doing there, cops said. He said he was looking for a job and asked them not to call police as he ran out of the garage.

He fled in a red Honda Civic, police said. The garbage collector was able to get some pictures of the creep leaving in the car while the sister called 911.

The brother was asleep in his home while the weird confrontation went down and was only made aware of the situation after police arrived, cops said.

Nothing appeared to be missing, cops said, and the incident is under investigation.
