When a San Francisco man thought an alleged woman of the night stole from him he took matters into his own hands but he ended up paying the price.

David Patrick Omara, 46, was arrested early Thursday morning after binding and gagging a 20-year-old woman he believed stole an iPad and cash from him in a previous sexual encounter that occurred Tuesday, South San Francisco police said.

Omara was arrested at the Travelodge in the 300 block of South Airport Boulevard in South San Francisco about 12:30 a.m. after hotel management reported a woman screaming, police said.

When police arrived they found the woman gagged and bound with duct tape, police said. Police freed the woman and transported her to the hospital.

Omara was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, burglary, terrorist threats and battery resulting in serious bodily injury and booked into County Jail.

Copper con caught at construction site

A man was arrested Sunday in a copper theft incident in the Silver Terrace neighborhood, police said.

A witness saw the man steal copper from a construction site in the 2800 block of San Bruno Avenue just around midnight, police said.

Police detained the suspect walking away from the construction site and found numerous tools on him, they said. A search of his nearby vehicle found additional tools and a large amount of copper piping.

The suspect admitted he had stolen from the site, police said. He was arrested and charged with possession of burglary tools and stolen property.

A woman was arrested for reckless driving and evading arrest Sunday in the Bayview, police said.

The woman was clocked doing 50 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 200 block of Bayshore Boulevard about 10:30 p.m., police said.

Officers began pursuit but she wouldn’t pull over, police said. She stopped her vehicle at Third Street and Newcomb Avenue. When officers went to make contact with the driver, she sped at them in reverse and then fled south on Third Street.

She was ultimately found and arrested in the unit block of Cashmere Street.
