Craigslist sting nets bevy of bikes

San Francisco police said they arrested two youths and recovered 21 stolen bicycles from an Ingleside district home Tuesday after responding to a Craigslist advertisement.

Police at the Mission Station announced the recovery via Twitter on Wednesday, offering a link with pictures of the stolen bicycles in the hope that their owners will reclaim them.

Victims told Ingleside cops they had seen a Craigslist ad that was offering their stolen bikes for sale, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said. On Feb. 12, Ingleside cops tracked down a bike that had already been sold and determined the buyer was not the crook.

Information obtained from the buyer led to the Ingleside home where the stolen bikes were recovered. Two 17-year-old boys were arrested at the residence, Andraychak said.

The boys, who are not being named because they are minors, were charged with conspiracy and multiple counts of possession of stolen property, Andraychak said.
