Brendan Moylan, the owner of Marin Brewing Co. and Moylan’s Brewery and Restaurant, is a North Bay craft-beer pioneer and sponsor of the BreastFest Beer Festival. Fort Mason will boast more than 60 breweries, live music and raffle Saturday in order to raise money for the Charlotte Maxwell Complimentary Clinic, a public health clinic in Oakland that helps women fight cancer. How did BreastFest Beer Festival get its start 11 years ago? Our general manager’s mother had breast cancer, and she went to CMCC, and they were incredibly helpful.

Can you enjoy BreastFest even if you don’t drink much?
There are half-price tickets for designated drivers, and there’s great food and lots of activities.

What made you go into beer making?
I’ve got the two-word answer: I’m Irish. It’s a fun hobby that turned into a business. It evolved from making home brew. When we opened 22 years ago, there wasn’t a lot available. The awareness wasn’t what it is today. It’s been a great ride to see the craft-brew movement go from a few guys on their own to what it is now.
