CPAC occasion for Right fund-raisers

With an expected 10,000 or more conservative leaders, activists, theorists, candidates, public offiicals, has-beens, hope-to-bes and authors gathering in Washington, D.C. for tomorrow's opening day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), all eyes are on the Right.

Among those eyes are those of the Sunlight Foundation's Party Time bloggers who track who is having fund raising events on Capitol Hill and elsewhere.

With so many right-thinking folks in town this week, it's no surprise that conservative and Republican members of Congress would think this might be a good week for a fund-raising event. And sure enough, Party Time is listing them as they are discovered.

Here are just a few:

* The conservative One Nation PAC is holding a Scotch & Cigars reception with a number of Republican representatives in attendance.

* Freshman Sen. Mike Lee, R-UT, who is a Tea Party movement celebrity, is having a Debt Retirement Dinner at the Online Lenders Alliance (OLA) Townhouse.

* Freshman Rep. Jeff Denham, R-CA, is attending a California Wine Tasting event in his honor at the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Townhouse.

* The National Rifle Association has a Laser Shoot Out & Hard Times Chili event for Rep. Michael McCaul, R-TX, at their headquarters.

* Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, who just assumed more of a leadership role on the Energy and Commerce Committee, will be fundraising at a breakfast at the Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar a day before she speaks at the conference.

I wonder if McCaul is as good a shot with a pistol as Texas Gov. Rick Perry, from either the standing or running firing position? Anybody for a Texas shooting contest?

For more from Party Time, go here. And yes, they do track fund raising by Democrats and Republicans.
