County tests voting machines

San Mateo County elections officials began testing electronic voting equipment this week in preparation for the Nov. 2 election.

The county uses 1,422 eSlate voting machines Election Day and more at the two voting centers open 29 days before the election, located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo and 555 County Center, first floor, in Redwood City. Testing is conducted on 183 different ballots (61 individual styles in three different languages).

The public is welcome to observe the roughly four-day eSlate testing process, which began Wednesday and is expected to continue through Saturday.
