Cops put brakes on carjackers

A 31-year-old woman was robbed and carjacked at gunpoint by a group of hooligans Tuesday night, police said. But they didn’t get away with it.

The woman was in her parked car in the 1100 block of Union Street around 11 p.m. when one of the suspects tapped on her window and showed her a gun, cops said.

The crook opened the door and the woman exited the vehicle. The gun-toting thug and his four partners in crime got in and took off with the woman’s purse, wallet, credit cards, check book and cell phone, police said.

The carjackers didn’t make if very far, however. Cops found the car and took all suspects into custody, they said.
