Cops probe possible murder-suicide with house fire

Fremont police believe that a suspicious house fire that killed a woman and her 4-month-old daughter may have been a murder-suicide.

Detective Bill Veteran says Tuesday night's fire appears to be intentional. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine if there are other causes of death besides the fire.

Police were called to the scene after firefighters found the 33-year-old woman and infant dead inside the two-story home. Their names have not been released.

Authorities say the woman's 8-year-old daughter also was home when the fire started around 6:15 p.m. and ran to a neighbor's home for help. Crews put out the blaze within minutes.
