Construction of 425-foot corkscrew tower debated

A proposal to build a 425-foot corkscrew condo tower next to the 853-foot Transamerica Pyramid will be considered today by planning and parks commissioners. An official was absent when commissioners met Feb. 11 to rule on the proposal, postponing any decisions. The Telegraph Hill Dwellers and others have argued, among additional points, that the building would cast too many shadows on parks.
