Congressman resigns after alleged Craigslist tryst

After being allegedly caught trolling for women on Craigslist, Rep. Christopher Lee, R-N.Y., has resigned from the House of Representatives, Fox News is reporting.

According to Gawker, the married congressman responded to a Craigslist ad with a shirtless cell phone mirror picture. He said he was a divorced lobbyist living in the Capitol Hill area.

First contact was on Jan. 14 at 2:41 p.m. and continued for a short while, but the woman cut off contact when a Google search showed he lied about his age and occupation. Note that he used his real name.

However, there’s reason to believe that wasn’t just a rookie mistake. He told the female that he’d had another date earlier in the week.

Lee’s spokesman said told Gawker the only time the Congressman has posted on Craigslist was to sell old furniture, but we suppose there is a large difference between posting and replying.

Right now his spokesman says his email account was hacked, a la Sarah Palin, but then where did this supposed hacker get the classy cell phone pic?
