Conard House hosts first benefit gala 

Conard House gala: Conard House, a group celebrating five decades of providing community-based resources to adults living with mental illness, held its inaugural benefit gala Thursday at the Golden Gate Club in The City. Gala officials included Mylea Charvat Walther, Donna Ames-Heldfond, Merla Zellerbach and Glady Thacher. KQED Public Radio’s “Health Dialogues” received $5,000 and the first Elaine Mikels Award for its coverage of mental illness and related disorders. Proceeds from the event will help underwrite an initiative toward reducing health disparities for people with mental disorders.

Smashing art party at Gump’s

David “LEBO” Le Batard: On Thursday, luxury home furnishings retailer Gump’s presented LEBO, a Cuban-American post-modern cartoon expressionist known for murals, sculptures and paintings, in a live painting performance to music by Renee Wilson. The event was a launch for the store’s Full Bloom Collection. The artist’s work is featured in the Gump’s catalog.

Redwood Room thinks pink

Pink Party: On Wednesday, the Clift Hotel’s Redwood Room hosted its fifth annual cocktail event to benefit the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. Sponsored by Burke Williams and Cline Cellars, the soiree featured a raffle, samba dancers, rosé Champagne and DJ music, with proceeds going to help low-income women battling breast cancer.
