Comments earn guardsman a dismissal from royal wedding duty

WHO: Cameron Reilly, 18, a Buckingham Palace guard who was scheduled to serve at Friday’s royal wedding celebrations

WHAT: The Scots Guardsman was banned from the wedding after making online comments about Kate Middleton, calling her a “stuck-up cow” and other less-printable epithets, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail. He also reportedly said on his Facebook page that he had “attacked a black man” while on leave, made racist remarks about Pakistanis and said he fantasized about shooting Jews.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: Reilly was among the guards who are set to line the route of the wedding procession, and who patrol outside the palace regularly in iconic red tunics and bearskin hats. The guards are a national icon much beloved by tourists and charged with the safety of the royal family.
