Collmenter, D-Backs top Bumgarner, Giants in opener preview

SCOTTSDALE — Josh Collmenter outpitched Madison Bumgarner in a preview of their opening-night matchup, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants 10-0 Tuesday.

Bumgarner, the reigning World Series MVP, and Collmenter are the scheduled starters when the Giants visit Arizona on April 6 to begin the regular season.

Bumgarner gave up one run and three hits in two innings, striking out three. He went to the bullpen after his outing for some additional pitches.

Collmenter threw two-hit ball for four innings, walking none and striking out three.

Allen Webster also pitched four innings and hit a three-run double.

Brandon Drury homered, doubled and drove in three runs. He got hit in the elbow with a pitch and felt numbness, but said he was fine.
