College invites neighbors to see plan for forest

Since so many people are interested in what happens to the trees on Mount Sutro on UC San Francisco’s property, the university is holding a walking tour in the area Saturday.

The tour comes after a community meeting about possibly removing some of the young trees and shrubs in an 8-acre area adjacent to houses on the South Ridge and in a 6-acre area near campus buildings on Edgewood Avenue.

The removal would reduce the amount of highly combustible fuels, according to the university.

The walking tour is open to the public and starts at the intersection of Johnstone Drive and Behr Avenue at noon.
