City's unemployment climbs to 10.3%

San Francisco’s unemployment rate rose to 10.3 percent in January, the highest it has been during this recession, according to the city controller.

The number of residents unemployed in San Francisco was 46,900, according to a report released Wednesday morning by the Office of the Controller.

Although January is typically a weak employment month, San Francisco’s jobs market is showing few signs of recovery, the report said.
