CityPlace parking hearing scheduled May 27

A ruling on whether underground parking will be allowed at a proposed Mid-Market mall is expected to be made this month.
Plans for CityPlace, a 90-foot mall proposed over three Market Street lots between Fifth and Sixth Streets, include an underground parking garage.

During a December hearing, planning commissioners appeared divided over whether to allow the parking, with some saying development of the area should prioritize pedestrians. The hearing was not held to rule on the parking proposal.

A May 27 hearing was scheduled so the Planning Commission can rule on whether the 188 parking spots will be allowed.
Other needed construction permits would also be approved or denied during the hearing.

Planning Commission rulings can be appealed to the Board of Supervisors.
