City identifies man who fell to his death at 49ers game

A man who died Sunday after falling 20 feet from the upper concourse to the lower mezzanine at the 49ers football game at Monster Park in San Francisco has been identified today as 31-year-old Roseville resident Torrey Kretschman, a San Francisco Medical Examiner's investigator said today.

Kretschman had reportedly taken a break from watching the football game a few minutes before the end of the first half, according to San Francisco Police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

Police said that Kretschman went to the exterior of the stadium to sit on a ramp wall between sections 7 and 5, but seemed to misjudge the wall and fell 20 feet to the mezzanine level.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The San Francisco 49ers franchise today offered condolencesto Kretschman's family.

"It is with great sadness that the 49ers organization learned of the death of one of our fans during the 49ers game on Sunday. On behalf of all of us at the 49ers we express our sincere condolences to his family and friends," said the 49ers franchise.

The 49ers organization reported that based on the investigation conducted by police, the death is being investigated as accidental.
