Panel looks at discounted Muni pass proposal

San Francisco’s Youth Commission will hold a hearing Monday on a proposal by Supervisor Jake McGoldrick to offer discounted Municipal Railway passes for young adults, ages 18-24.

Youth passes, which cost $10, are for individuals under the age of 18. An adult pass costs $45. The hearing will be held at City Hall at 5 p.m. in Room 416.

South Beach-Mission Bay areas host block party

The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency is co-sponsor of a South Beach-Mission Bay Block Party today that features free music and sailboat rides, among other activities. Fire Department vehicles and a talking police car will be also be on display.

The event will be held at South Beach Park, Pier 40 to McCovey Cove, from noon to 4 p.m. More information is available at http://www.2006blockparty.com.

Massage parlor restrictions proposed to supervisors

The Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday whether to require massage parlors to undergo a public hearing before being allowed to open for business.

Supervisor Fiona Ma, the author of the legislation, said it would allow residents to decide whether they want a new massage parlor in their neighborhood.

The legislation comes after a recent federal crackdown on San Francisco massage parlors, which authorities say often act as a front for prostitution.

The Board of Supervisors meets Tuesday at 2 p.m., at City Hall, Room 250.
