Board of Supervisors

Massage parlor restrictions proposed to supervisors

The Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday whether to require massage parlors to undergo a public hearing before being allowed to open for business.

Supervisor Fiona Ma, the author of the legislation, said it would allow residents to decide whether they want a new massage parlor in their neighborhood.

The legislation comes after a recent federal crackdown on San Francisco massage parlors, which authorities say often act as a front for prostitution.

The Board of Supervisors meets Tuesday at 2 p.m., at City Hall, Room 250.
